(Spirit Lake)– The new Superintendent of the Spirit Lake Community School District is officially on the job.
David Smith comes to Spirit Lake from the University of Northern Iowa where he served as Director of the Price Laboratory.
Smith has been at the helm in Spirit Lake about two weeks now. He wrapped up his previous job in Cedar Falls last week.
Smith tells KUOO news he’s very impressed with what he’s seen so far in the district. Adding he’s most impressed by the district’s residents and the school’s staff and teachers, saying it’s very evident they care a lot.
As of right now Smith says he doesn’t have any specific goals in mind. He says his priority right now is to continue to familiarize himself with the district and establish relationships with the community.
Meanwhile Smith, his wife and four children are getting settled into their new home in the Iowa Great Lakes.
Smith succeeds Doug Latham who served as interim Superintendent the past several years.
