(Jackson, Mn.)– The search for a missing Lakefield, Minnesota man has ended on a tragic note.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says authorities found the body of 39-year-old Dale Maine around 6:30 p.m. Monday in a wooded, grassy area of Belmont Park, about seven miles north of Jackson. The body was found about 15 yards away from the Des Moines River.
Sheriff Roger Hawkinson says the cause of the death is unknown at this time, but foul play is NOT suspected. An autopsy has been ordered.
Maine had been reported missing over the weekend. His vehicle was discovered Saturday in Belmont Park with a door ajar and the dome light on. A checkbook belonging to Maine and an empty pill container were found in a nearby shelter house.
Authorities searched the 79 acre park Saturday night, throughout the day Sunday and again Monday before locating Maine’s body.
