(Jackson, Mn.)– The search continues for a missing Lakefield, Minnesota man.
39-year-old Dale Maine was reported missing over the weekend. He was last seen in the area of Belmont Park, which is north of Jackson. Authorities found his vehicle abandoned there around 8:00 p.m. Saturday. They say the door was ajar and the dome light was on.
Upon further investigation officers found a checkbook belonging to Maine along with an empty pill container in a nearby shelter house.
Deputies began searching the 79-acre park that night and a K-9 Unit from the Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office was brought in.
The search resumed Sunday with about 20 people from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Jackson County Sheriff’s Reserve, Jackson County Emergency Management, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and Jackson Fire and Rescue. A water craft was used to search the nearby Des Moines River.
The search continued Monday with specially trained dogs from the Minnesota Search and Rescue Dog Association. A helicopter from the Minnesota State Patrol could also be seen flying over the area, but authorities say there was no sign of Maine.
