November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– A two-vehicle collision Tuesday at the intersection of 225th Avenue and 480th Street in Clay county sent a Laurens couple to the hospital with minor injuries.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says 79-year-old Allen Shaw of Laurens was westbound on 480th Street when he swerved to miss a truck that was crossing the intersection. The truck was being driven by 45-year-old Raymond Savage of Everly.

The vehicle Shaw was driving went into the northwest ditch.

Shaw and a passenger in his vehicle, his wife, were taken to Spencer Hospital where they were treated for minor cuts and bruises. No injuries were reported to Savage.

2,500-dollars in damage was estimated to the front of a 2009 Dodge Caliber Shaw was driving; no damage was reported to a 2006 International 7000 truck driven by Savage and owned by M and C Anderson Pullets, Incorporated.

The collision took place shortly after 2:30 p.m.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by Spencer EMT’s, the Iowa State Patrol and Royal EMT’s.
