Hwy 9 & 86 Crash Injures Two

(Spirit Lake)– Two people were injured Sunday when a vehicle collided with a light pole at the intersection of Highways Nine and 86 just west of Spirit Lake.

The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office says 55-year-old Nancy Ranum of Spirit Lake was driving a 1997 Buick LeSabre northbound on Highway 86 and was merging onto Highway Nine when she lost control.

The vehicle crossed Highway Nine and collided with a light pole before coming to rest on private property.

Ranum and a passenger, Paula VonHoldt of Spencer, were taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare where they were treated for non-incapacitating injuries.

Damage to the vehicle was estimated at seven thousand dollars; the light pole sustained an estimated three thousand dollars in damage.

The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the Spirit Lake and Lake Park Police Departments; Lakes Regional Healthcare ambulance and paramedics; and the Spirit Lake First Responders.

The collision took place around 4:00 p.m.
