E’Ville Police Arrest Suspect In Car Burglaries

(Estherville)– Estherville police say they have a suspect in custody in connection with a recent rash of car burglaries in the city.

Officers were called Tuesday to two separate reports of vehicles that had been burglarized. One was in the 700 block of South 14th Street; the other was in the 1200 of Third Avenue South in Estherville. Both complainants told police their vehicles had been entered sometime overnight and that several items were missing.

Police and members of the general public were able to identify a suspect.

Upon investigating officers arrested 24-year-old Edward Azar of Estherville on two counts of burglary in the third degree. Azar was booked into the Emmet county jail awaiting an initial appearance before a judge.

Burglary in the second degree is an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by a prison term of no more than two years for each count.
