Okoboji School Board Looking At Possible Options For More Room At Elementary

November 22, 2014

(Milford)– Space at the Okoboji Elementary School in Milford is already at a premium…and school officials say chances are it will get more crowded.

Superintendent Bob Miller says increased enrollment means they’ll have to increase from three sections to four sections of Kindergarten in the fall of 2010. He says some storage rooms and TAG rooms have already been converted into classroom space.

He says numbers are also up for the pre-kindergarten, transitional kindergarten and headstart programs, which are also housed in the Elementary building.

The issue was the topic of a special school board meeting Thursday morning. Miller says the meeting was held strictly as a work session to do some brainstorming. He says the issue will be back on the board’s agenda in the next several months. Miller says in the meantime staff will gather additional information and they’ll continue to study and review enrollment projections.
