(Sioux Rapids)– A head-on crash Sunday evening in Buena Vista county has claimed the life of a juvenile.
Sheriff Gary Launderville says the collision involved a van driven by 44-year-old Anthony Borkovec of Ruthven and a passenger car driven by 40-year-old Matthew Wrather of Rembrandt.
Launderville says a male juvenile passenger in the Wrather vehicle died of injuries sustained in the crash. The juvenile, who’s name wasn’t released, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Wrather was life-flighted from the scene to Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City; Borkovec was taken by ambulance to Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.
The collision took place shortly before 6:00 p.m. on Highway 71 about a half mile south of Highway 10.
Launderville says the collision remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.
