Dickinson Co. Trails Board Awarded Grant For Hwy 86 Trail Extension

November 22, 2014

(Wahpeton)– The Dickinson County Trials Board is the recipient of a 75-thousand dollar grant from the Okoboji Foundation.

The money will be used in the construction of a segment of trail on the west side of West Lake Okoboji connecting North Inner Lane to the 155th Street segment of the Highway 86 trail, which is currently under construction.

Officials say the new trail will provide greater safety for residents and guests walking, running, biking or skating along the west side of West Lake Okoboji and that it will connect that area to the existing segments of the Iowa Great Lakes Trail System.

The Okoboji Foundation, with grant focuses on culture, education, environment, history, life-saving and recreation, has been providing support to non-profit organizations throughout the Iowa Great Lakes Area since 1989. In those years, the foundation has partnered with 59 local non-profit organizations on 113 community betterment projects.
