(Spirit Lake)– Two people were injured Monday when a car they were in collided with a semi on Highway 71 about five miles north of the Jackson “Y”.
The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office says 20-year-old Jeremy Clark of Dunnell, Minnesota was driving a 1995 Chrysler Lebaron southbound in the northbound lane when he collided with an oncoming 2003 Freightliner semi tractor driven by 43-year-old Daryl Schubert of Estherville.
Authorities say Schubert took evasive action to avoid a head-on crash.
Clark and a passenger in his vehicle, Alisha Brower of Dunnell, Minnesota, were taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare. No injuries were reported to Schubert.
Clark was cited for no driver’s license and operating on the wrong side of a roadway.
Damage to the vehicle Clark was driving was estimated at three thousand dollars; the semi driven by Schubert sustained an estimated 30-thousand dollars in damage.
The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Spirit Lake Police Department, Spirit Lake and Superior Fire Departments and the Lakes Regional Healthcare ambulance.
The collision took place shortly before 2:00 p.m.
