Bicyclist Struck By Wide Load On Semi

(Spirit Lake)– A freak accident Monday in Spirit Lake sent a bicyclist to the hospital after being struck by a wide load being carried by a semi as it passed by.

Spirit Lake police say 54-year-old Marsha Moyer of Omaha was riding a bicycle eastbound on a sidewalk along Highways nine and 71 near Lincoln Avenue when she was struck in the head by an object being carried on a wide load on a semi driven by 66-year-old Eugene Myers of Ferryville, Wisconsin.

Moyer was taken by private vehicle to Lakes Regional Healthcare. There was no information on the extent of her injuries.

No injuries were reported to Myers with no damage reported to the 2004 Peterbilt truck he was driving owned by Gene Myers Trucking of Waterville, Iowa.

The incident took place around 11:20 a.m.
