SL Council Approves Lake Street Business Park Re-Zoning; Denies VFW Request To Move Service Area

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– The Spirit Lake city council has cleared the way for some land in the Lake Street Business Park to be re-zoned.

The city council Tuesday voted unanimously to approve the second reading and waive the third and adopted an ordinance to rezone the parcels from General Industrial to General Commercial.

In other business, the council denied a request from the VFW Club to relocate its outdoor service area to the south side, or front of the building. The council had previously approved it for the north side, or back of the business.

The request to move it to the front of the business drew concern from several council members over aesthetics and other issues. The council then voted unanimously to deny the VFW’s request to relocate the outdoor service area.
