(Undated)–Several Dickinson county municipalities will have races in the upcoming November 3rd city elections.
In Lake Park, incumbent Mayor John Engel is being challenged by Ken Fiala. And incumbents Lance Heikens, Richard Packebush and Gary Taber face challenges for their seats on the city council from Keith Nitzschke, Clark Reekers and Gilbert Zahren.
Milford will have a new Mayor. Longtime Incumbent Virgil Wahlman has opted not to seek another term in the office. Instead, he’s running for a seat on the city council. Don Lamb, who’s currently on the city council, isn’t seeking re-election to his seat. Instead, he’s running for Wahlman’s old job as Mayor. He was the only to file for the position. Incumbents Mike Anderson and Keith Feller are seeking re-election to the city council, which has three seats open, along with Christopher Hinshaw and Wahlman.
In Okoboji, Mary Vanderwoude is unopposed for Mayor. Four people are running for three open seats on the city council. They include two incumbents…Susan Larsen and Jerry Robinson, along with Neal Christensen and Steve Dulin. Jim Hentges is unopposed to fill a vacancy.
In Orleans, no one filed for Mayor. Eric Anderson and incumbents Keith Ostrum and Benjamin Radliffe are running for three seats on the city council.
There’s a race for Mayor in Terril where incumbent Tim Fairchild is being challenged by Scot Matthews. There are two open seats on the city council, where incumbents Elwin Clark and Jeri Nissen face a challenge from Kent Heazlett.
In Wahpeton, incumbent Frank Joenks is unopposed for Mayor. Four people are running for three city council seats. They include incumbents Wayne Johnson, James Keck and Thomas Rierson. They’re being challenged by Ron Newgard.
The cities of Arnolds Park, Spirit Lake, Superior and West Okoboji have no contested races.
In Arnolds Park, incumbent Mike Mitchell is unopposed for Mayor and incumbents Mike Koppert and Mitch Watters are unopposed for their seats on the city council.
In Spirit Lake, incumbent Mayor Blain Andera is unopposed and incumbents Steve Balm and Clyde Ihrke are unopposed for their seats on the city council.
In Superior, Everette Houge is unopposed for Mayor and Kirk Gates, Ben Hawn and Colt Hample are running for three open seats on the city council.
And in West Okoboji, incumbent Mayor Larry Traughber is running unopposed and incumbents Mike Paxton and Paul Sieh are unopposed for their seats on the city council.
The filing period for city elections recently closed.
The elections will be held November 3rd.
