(Spencer)– An agency that provides services to victims of domestic violence in our area is getting a financial boost thanks to a major grant.

Rhonda Dean, Executive Director of the Centers Against Abuse and Sexual Assault says they’ve been awarded 20-thousand dollars through The Mary Kay Foundation’s domestic violence grant program.

Dean says CAASA is one 150 domestic violence organizations awarded funding through the foundation.

Dean says the grant comes at a crucial time which has seen a decrease in donations due to the economic climate, while the need for CAASA’s services is increasing.

The Centers Against Abuse and Sexual Assault provides crisis intervention and counseling, advocacy, shelter and information and referral for victims of domestic and sexual violence.

Services also include prevention education and community awareness surrounding those issues.

CAASA serves eight counties in northwest Iowa inlcude Buena Vista, Cherokee, Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, Ida, Palo Alto and Sac.
