(Emmetsburg)– A single-vehicle crash Sunday in Palo Alto county sent several people to the hospital.
The Sheriff’s Office says Joseph Hippleheuser of West Bend lost control as he was traveling on 570th Avenue shortly before 4:00 p.m.
Authorities say Hippleheuser was trying to avoid a flock of birds that flew up from the road when he lost control. The vehicle fishtailed and went into the east ditch, striking an embankment before coming to rest in a field.
Hippleheuser and two passengers…Clay Douglas of West Bend and Christian Janeski of Rolfe, were taken by ambulance to the Palo Alto County Hospital. There was no immediate word on their conditions or extent of injuries.
A damage estimate to a 1996 Mercury Sable Hippleheuser was driving wasn’t immediately available.
The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the West Bend ambulance and Fire Department and the Emmetsburg ambulance.
