(Spencer)– The area’s newest judge will be sworn into office in a ceremony scheduled for 3:00 p.m. this Friday (October 2nd) at the Clay County Courthouse in Spencer.
Charles K. Borth will be sworn in at that time as District Associate Judge for third judicial district. Borth fills the vacant position created by the retirement of District Associate Judge Donavon Schaefer.
A public reception will be held in the lobby of the courthouse following Friday’s ceremony.
A retirement reception for Judge Schaefer meanwhile will be held Wednesday (September 30th) from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. at the Cherokee County Courthouse in Cherokee.
Judge Schaefer, who’s from Aurelia, was appointed to the bench in 1989. He will continue to work for the Third Judicial District as a senior judge.
