November 22, 2014

(Estherville)– Iowa Lakes Community College has received high markings from a program that oversees accreditation of higher learning facilities.

Representatives of the Academic Quality Improvement Program visited the Estherville and Emmetsburg campuses last week. The accreditation team looks into all aspects of the college to ensure high academic quality and guarantee that resources are being used effectively.

The team visited the campuses for three days last week. Team members included Dr. Joan Costello, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Inver Hills Community College; and Dr. David Calhoon, Chair of the College of Education at Black Hills State University. Both said they were extremely impressed with their meetings with students and faculty.

The team also congratulated the college on responses to advising processes, communications, data and professional development.

The college’s priority which supports a goal of two percent revenues over expenditures was also reviewed by the team, which recommended the college’s accreditation through the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools be continued.
