Local Hospital Bans Visitors To OB Unit Due To Flu, H1N1 Concerns

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– The Obstetrics Unit at Spencer Hospital is now off limits to visitors due to flu and H1N1 concerns.

Effective immediately, only immediate family is allowed to visit OB patients.

Jeanette Hasley, Spencer Hospital’s Director of Obstetric Services, says the ban is intended to protect patients and newborns.

Even though immediate family members are still being allowed, Hasley says OB staff will ask thems ome basic health questions just to make sure.

Hasley says other hospitals around the country have established similar visitation policies.
