(Spirit Lake)– A single vehicle crash Saturday on Highway 86 between Highway Nine and the Minnesota border injured a Lakefield woman.
The Iowa State Patrol says 83-year-old Eva Zishka of Lakefield was driving a 2005 Dodge Dakota pickup southbound when she lost control on the ice-covered road. The vehicle crossed the center line and went into the east ditch where it rolled, coming to rest on the driver’s side.
Zishka was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by the Spirit Lake Fire Department. She was then taken to Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake with what was described as non-incapacitating injuries.
15-thousand dollars in damage was estimated to the pickup.
The crash took place in the vicinity of Highway 86 and 120TH Street. It resulted in the highway being closed in that area while authorities removed the vehicle.
Zishka was cited for failure to maintain control.
The crash took place shortly before 10:00 a.m.
