(Spencer)– A Spencer insurance and securities broker accused of stealing more than 100-thousand dollars from his clients over the past six years has been arrested on theft and criminal conduct charges.
Spencer police say 54-year-old James Opheim of 1301 First Avenue East in Spencer was arrested today (Wednesday) on charges of theft in the first degree…a class “C” felony; and ongoing criminal conduct…a class “B” felony.
Police say the arrest stems from an investigation into Opheim’s activities as an insurance agent and securities broker. Authorities say he was an independent agent and was working out of his home.
Opheim is accused of using the money for personal expenses.
