(Spencer)– A two-vehicle collision shortly after 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Clay county sent one person to the hospital.
The Sheriff’s Office says 71-year-old Milo Peters of Hartley was northbound on 240th Avenue and had stopped for a stop sign at the intersection with Highway 18. Deputies say at the same time a semi was turning off Highway 18 from the east, blocking Peters’ view. Peters then pulled into the path of a vehicle driven by 18-year-old Garrett Reed of Albert City who was westbound on Highway 18.
A passenger in Peters’ vehicle, 68-year-old Claris Peters, was taken to Spencer Hospital for treatment of a possible minor injury. No other injuries were reported.
Four thousand dollars in damage was estimated to a 2004 Dodge Caravan driven by Peters; a 2003 Ford Mustang driven by Reed sustained an estimated five thousand dollars damage.
Peters was cited for failure to yield.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Spencer Communications Center, Spencer Ambulance and Dickens Fire and Rescue.
