(Algona)– A Spirit Lake woman escaped injury Wednesday afternoon when the car she was driving caught fire.
The Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office says 22-year-old Nikki Smith of Spirit Lake had pulled off to the side of the road to use her cell phone when the 1993 Chevrolet Lumina continued into a ditch and caught on fire.
Smith was alone in the vehicle and managed to get out uninjured.
The vehicle was totaled in the blaze.
