(Spirit Lake)– A single-vehicle crash on the “S” curves on Highway 86 at the Iowa/Minnesota border Monday sent two people to the hospital.
The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office says 40-year-old Dulci McGuire of Windom was driving a 2002 Ford Aerostar van southbound when he failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle traveled onto the gravel portion of 100th Street. Authorities say McGuire then over-corrected causing the vehicle to cross the center-line. It rolled into the east ditch, coming to rest on its wheels.
McGuire and a passenger, four-year-old Grace McGuire of Windom, were taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare. There was no word on the nature or extent of their injuries.
Dulci McGuire was cited for failure to maintain control.
Seven thousand dollars in damage was estimated to the vehicle.
The crash took place shortly before 9:30 a.m.
