Spencer Council Votes 4-3 To Proceed In Establishing Criteria For Pet Cemetery

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– Spencer may become the first city in the area to have a pet cemetery.

The city council voted four-to-three Monday evening to proceed in establishing criteria for a final resting place for pets in the city. Council members George Kruger, Randy Swanson, David Scott and Ron Hanson voted in favor while Ed Krebs, Steve Bomgaars and Rich Prentice were opposed.

Those opposed to the measure expressed concern over costs while those in favor say having a pet cemetery would be much better than having people bury animals in their back yards.

Officials say the pet cemetery would be available only to residents of Spencer.
