(Storm Lake)– An Arnolds Park man was arrested in Storm Lake Friday after police were dispatched to MetaBank at 121 East Fifth to investigate a person who had just been at the bank and had allegedly defrauded a MetaBank location in West Des Moines.
Officers learned 31-year-old David Ullensvang of Arnolds Park and allegedly attempted to open an account at the Storm Lake MetaBank. Alert bank staff recognized Ullensvang had reportedly defrauded a West Des Moines MetaBank on Thursday for thousands of dollars. Ullensvang left MetaBank when staff started asking questions.
Police located Ullensvang a short time later at the Citizens Credit Union on Flidt Drive in Storm Lake where he allegedly attempted to defraud that bank as well. Alert staff there also blocked his attempts. Police arrived on the scene and took Ullensvang into custody without incident.
Police learned Ullensvang was wanted in Spencer for third-degree theft, and in Carroll for fraudulent practice. He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a two-thousand dollar bond.
Additional charges against Ullensvang are pending the outcome of a joint investigation by Storm Lake and West Des Moines police.
