Corridor Development Corporation Awarded Funding

(Spencer)– The Iowa Great Lakes Corridor Development Corporation has been awarded two grants from the Iowa Department of Economic Devleopment to help further economic development efforts in the four-county area.

The first, in the amount of $50,000 is for regional development strategies; the other, in the amount of $15,000 will allow the Corridor to participate in the Statewide Commercialization Entity Program.

The Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation, one of 18 marketing regions in the Iowa, annually submits requests for regional marketing dollars through the Grow Iowa Values Fund. This year, projects that foster retention and growth of existing Iowa businesses were given priority.

The Iowa Lakes Corridor’s overall marketing strategies include its existing industry retention and expansion program, as well as marketing the region to prospextive residents and companies.

Kathy Evert, President and CEO of the Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation, says the Commercialization Program funding was awarded to the Corridor due to its expanded efforts to have the region become recognized as the most attractive in Iowa for entrepreneurs and new ventures.

The purpose of the Iowa Commercialization Services Network is to provide direct technical and management assistant services and link capital sources to accelerate commercialization and business formation in Iowa.
