(Storm Lake)– A Spencer woman has hit it big in the Iowa Lottery.
Lottery officials say 67-year-old Karen Vander Veen of Spencer won 30-thousand dollars, the top prize in the “Jingle Bell Crossword” game.
Vander Veen purchased her winning ticket at Car-Go Express in Spencer.
Vander Veen plans to use the money to pay bills and as she put it “splurge on some Christmas gifts”.
Vander Veen claimed her prize Friday at the Iowa Lottery’s regional office in Storm Lake.
