Clay County H1N1 Vaccination Clinics Scheduled

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– Clay County Public Health will hold two H1N1 vaccination clinics next week for persons in the high priority groups.

Clinics will be held Wednesday, December 16th from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. and Thursday, December 17th from 8:00 a.m. until 12 Noon at Avera Spencer Family Care in the Spencer Medical Arts Building just south of Spencer Hospital on East 11th Street.

Appointments are required and can be made by calling Clay County Public Health at 1-800-848-0638 on Tuesday, December 15th between 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Consent forms must also be completed. They’re available on-line at www.spencerhospital.org under the health and wellness tab.

Clay County Public Health Nurse Collette Rossiter urges anyone falling into a priority category identified by the Centers for Disease Control to make an appointment. She says they especially hope to see children six months to nine months of age who are required to have two doses of vaccine, atleast 28 days apart. She says children who received their first dose in a school setting should also receive their second dose at a school vaccination clinic. She says additional school clinics are being planned for the rest of this week and next week, weather permitting. Parents need to sign a second consent for children getting a second dose.

At-school clinics in Clay county are also underway for upper elementary students, middle school students and high school students. Rossiter says they expect to have those clinics completed before the Christmas break.
