Local Red Cross Chapter Puts Out Appeal For Donations To Assist Haiti Earthquake Victims

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– The Iowa Great Lakes Area Chapter of the American Red Cross is doing its part to assist victims in the earth quake-ravaged city of Haiti.

Cindy Voss, Executive Director of the local American Red Cross chapter based in Spencer tells KUOO news she’s been busy fielding phone calls from local residents wondering what they can do to help out. She says the best thing is to contribute financially to the American Red Cross and give blood. Donations may be sent to the Iowa Great Lakes American Red Cross at P.O. Box 407, Spencer. Voss says blood drives will be held this Thursday (Jan. 14th) in Spirit Lake and Friday (Jan. 15th) in Lake Park. More information on the blood drives is available by calling (712) 262-1574. Appointments may be made by going to www.givebloodgivelife.org.

Voss adds the American Red Cross already has manpower on the ground in Haiti and that more will likely be on the way.
