Hwy 71 Crash Injures Two; Charges Filed Against Driver

(Milford)– A single-vehicle crash Friday on Highway 71 south of Milford injured two people and resulted in charges being filed against the driver.

The Iowa State Patrol says 20-year-old Marlen Perez-Daras of Spencer was northbound when he lost control on the icy road. The vehicle left the road and went into the east ditch where it rolled coming to rest on its top.

Perez-Daras and a passenger, 16-year-old Kelin Perez of Spencer, were taken by ambulance to Spencer Hospital where they were checked over for possible injuries.

Marlen Perez-Daras was charged with failure to have a valid license; possession of a false license and failure to maintain control.

A 1999 Mercury he was driving sustained an estimated eight thousand dollars in damage.

The crash took place around 8:45 a.m.
