(Gillette Grove)– Residents of one northwest Iowa school district head to the polls this coming Tuesday (Feb. 2nd) to decide whether or not to dissolve their school district.
If the meaure is approved, the South Clay School District’s territory, assets and liabilities would be distributed to designated contiguous districts.
A number of town meetings, public hearings and one-on-one visits to individual homes in the district have been held since the South Clay school board decided to move ahead with the vote.
School officials say if the simple majority needed to pass is not met during Tuesday’s election, the measure would revert to the Department of Education and Area Education Agency, which would the redraw the district’s lines.
Polling sites Tuesday are the Clay County Auditor’s Office from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m. and the South Clay Elementary school from Noon until 8:00 p.m.
