I90 Crash Kills Lakefield Woman

November 22, 2014

(Lakefield, Mn.)– A two-vehicle crash Monday on Interstate 90 near the Lakefield exit claimed the life one of the drivers involved.

The Minnesota State Patrol says it happened shortly after 10:00 a.m. in the westbound lanes.

Troopers say 47-year-old Margaret Salzwedel of Lakefield was driving a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee and was traveling in front of two semis. Authorities say one of the semis then went into the left lane to pass the Jeep Grand Cherokee, creating a snow cloud. The front end of the semi then collided with the rear of the Jeep Grand Cherokee, causing it to go into the median where it rolled once, ejecting Salzwedel, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the semi, 23-year-old Adam Kleinsasser of Faulkton, South Dakota, wasn’t injured.

The Minnesota State Patrol was assisted on the scene by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
