(Undated)– The Okoboji High School Jazz Band placed first in class 2A in last week’s Iowa Lakes Community College Jazz Band Contest in Estherville. Outstanding soloist awards went to Maggie Rohlk on alto sax, Milan Johnson on tenor sax, Kris Kaufman on trumpet, Matthew Ohl and Erik Vaage on trombone, Bryanna Wittrock on vibes and Callie Froendt on piano.
Okoboji also participated over the weekend in the Iowa High School Music Association’s State Jazz Band Festival in Emmetsburg where they received a division one rating.
Spirit Lake High School Jazz Enzemble received a division one “superior” rating at the state vocal jazz festival in Spirit Lake this past Saturday. They received a division one rating from all three judges.
