(Spirit Lake)– Spirit Lake students in grades 4-7 were honored as Council Champions of the 2010 Iowa Great Lakes Council Knights of Columbus Spelling Bee held this past Monday at the Spirit Lake Middle School.
In the fourth grade division, Adam Wicks was first; Avery McCusker second and Katie Tryon third.
In the fifth grade division, Gracie Mosher was first; Mackenzie Eickholt was second and Jordan Kyle third.
In the sixth grade competition, Ethan Johnson was the winner, followed by Jeremiah Eldridge in second and Logan Backhaus in third place.
And in the seventh grade bracket, Rebecca Owens was first, Caleb Jennings second and William Fuelberth was third.
Winners in each division advance to regional competition later this month.
