(Spencer)– The search is on for candidates to compete for the title of Clay County Fair Queen. The winner, to be crowned April 18th, will reign over the 2010 Clay County Fair and compete for the State Fair Queen title.
Females between the ages of 16 and 21 by August 12th, 2010 may apply. They must never have been married, must have no children, cannot be a professional model, cannot represent any other organization, and must reside in Clay county or an adjoining county with the majority of her activities in Clay county. Applicants must also be a member of atleast one service organization.
The Clay County Fair Queen will represent the fair in the Flagfest Parade in June, the Iowa State Fair during the queen contest, various celebrations, and the Clay County Fair in September. The queen also receives many valuable prizes and awards.
Contestants may pick up application form from their school counselor or at the Clay County Fair office, or they can submit a one page typed letter with name, parent’s names, address, email address, recent photo and date of birth. Contestants should describe themselves, the activities they’re involved in or will be involved, and their reason for wanting to become Clay County Fair Queen.
Entries must be submitted to the Clay County Fair Queen Contest, Box 527, Spencer, Iowa…51301 on or before March 8th. A committee will select 14 finalists who will compete for the title Sunday, April 18th at the Clay County Regional Events Center. Those who qualify for the April 18th competition will be notified by March 15th.
