Clay Central-Everly Awarded IRFA Grant

(Johnston)– A local school has been awarded a grant through the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association.

The Clay Central-Everly School District is getting a 2,500-dollar grant through the organization.

To be eligible, schools were required to educate students and communities about diodiesel and incorporate biodiesel into their school programming. WInners were selected based on a competitive application process.

Clay Central-Everly is the fourth district in Iowa to receive what’s known as the “Biodiesel Backer Award”.

The school was recognized for informational materials distributed by its ag science class, along with interviews the class conducted with school personnel and community leaders, and for teaching a unit on biodiesel to elementary students.

They were also recognized for giving a formal presentation at a school board meeting, urging the district to approve the use of biodiesel for its school bus fleet.
