Emerson Bay Restroom/Shower Facility Awarded Federal Funding

November 22, 2014

(Washington, D.C.)– Planned improvements at a popular lakes area public access are getting a financial shot-in-the-arm from the federal government.

U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley announced today (Monday) the National Park Service has awarded $371,438 to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources through its Land and Water Conservation Fund.

Of that, $179,722 will go toward the construction of a new shower and restroom facility at Emerson Bay on West Lake Okoboji.

The funding is in the form of a competitive grant. Various organizations, colleges and universities, individuals and state agencies are eligible to apply. Funding is awarded based on each organization or individual’s ability to meet criteria set by the federal entity.
