Clay County Assault Results In Arrest Of Storm Lake Man

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– An altercation at a rural Clay county residence late last month landed a Storm Lake man in jail on an assault charge.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says it stemmed from an alleged altercation February 27th. Authorities say the victim, who is from Storm Lake, was attending a party. Authorities say the victim traveled to Storm Lake the following morning where he sought treatment for injuries to his face, along with a broken nose. He then reported the incident to police.

Following an investigation by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, a suspect was taken into custody for interviewing. Based on his statements, authorities say 49-year-old Leopoldo Lucas-Monroy of Storm Lake was arrested for assault causing serious injury…a class “D” felony. He was booked into the Clay county jail.

Monroy is accused of headbutting the victim.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted in its investigation by the Storm Lake Police Department.
