Semi Rollover Kills Hogs; Driver Escapes Uninjured

November 22, 2014

(Alton)– A crash involving a semi pulling a trailer loaded with hogs resulted in no injuries to the driver, but killed most of the hogs it was hauling.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office says 28-year-old Jason Clark of Everly was driving a 2007 Volvo semi pulling a 2003 Wilson livestock trailer loaded with 185 hogs owned by Texas Farms of Perryton, Texas. Deputies say Clark was attempting to turn when the trailer tires went off the roadway, causing the trailer to overturn onto its side.

Authorities say Clark was wearing his seatbelt and wasn’t injured.

An estimated 12-thousand dollars in hogs was lost.

The mishap took place shortly after 12:30 a.m. Monday southeast of Alton.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the Iowa State Patrol.
