(Des Moines)– Governor Chet Culver has added 14 Iowa counties to a disaster declaration in response to recent severe weather.
The declaration now covers a total of 28 counties. It allows state resources to be deployed to help residents in the affected counties.
Culver’s declaration Tuesday covers several counties in northwest Iowa, including Buena Vista, Clay, Emmet, O’Brien, Osceola and Palo Alto.
Culver had already issued disaster proclamations for 14 other counties, including Cherokee and Sioux counties in northwest Iowa.
