(Spencer)– A two-vehicle collision Saturday at the north “Y” in Spencer, or the north junction of Highways 18 and 71 in Spencer, sent three people to the hospital.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says 63-year-old Janet Price of Garland, Texas was eastbound on Highway 18 and was attempting to cross Highway 71 when she failed to yield and collided with a vehicle driven by 36-year-old Jody Henderson of Spencer who was southbound on Highway 71.
Henderson and Maxine Price, a passenger in the vehicle driven by Janet Price, were taken by ambulance to Spencer Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Janet Price was flown by helicopter to a Sioux Falls hospital. No information was immediately available on the nature or extent of her injuries.
Three thousand dollars in damage was estimated to a 2001 Ford Ranger driven by Henderson; a 2006 Saturn driven by Price sustained an estimated six thousand dollars in damage.
Authorities say charges are pending in the crash, which took place shortly after 4:30 p.m.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Spencer Police Department, Iowa State Patrol, Spencer Hospital Ambulance and the Spencer Fire Department.
