(Okoboji)– Three people sustained minor injuries Monday evening in a boating mishap on East Lake Okoboji.
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources says David Pelzer of Dermott, Arkansas was operating a 32-foot Advantage boat on East Lake Okoboji between Mau Marine and the Hattie Elston boat ramp when he lost control, causing the boat to capsize.
Pelzer and two passengers in the boat, Casey Early and Sherry Frerichs…both of Spirit Lake…were ejected into the water. All three were picked up by other boaters in the area. They were taken to Lakes Regional Healthcare where all three were treated and released.
DNR Lakes Patrol officers were assisted by the Arnolds Park/Okoboji Fire Department and Dive and Underwater Search and Rescue Team; the Arnolds Park/Okoboji fire boat; Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office and the Okoboji Police Department.
The incident took place shortly before 6:30 p.m.
