Okoboji Foundation Announces 2010 Grant Recipients

(Okoboji)—The Okoboji Foundation has announced its 2010 Grant Awards.

Among the recipients is the Lake Park Parks and Recreation Board which will receive 20-thousand dollars for improvements to the outdoor municipal pool including a chair lift, zero depth entry and heater.

The Pearson Lakes Art Center will receive 9,500-dollars for structural improvements to Pomerantz Hall; 8,250-dollars was awarded to the Dickinson County Ag Society and the Dickinson County Extension Service for the relocation of animal exhibits at the fair; the Arnolds Park/Okoboji Fire Department was awarded 7,650-dollars for a live fire extinguisher training system that will be utilized by all Dickinson county fire departments; Echo Plus will receive 5,243-dollars to update equipment and improve space utilization; 3,500-dollars was awarded to the Dickinson County Community Gardens to expand garden space and erect portable tool sheds; two thousand dollars will go to the Friends of the Sami Center to match funds for a student-directed project to design and fabricate a permanent public art display; Lakeside Lab was awarded 1,904-dollars to replace and upgrade equipment used to measure lake oxygen and temperature levels; and CHAPCO-Time Out Nursery will receive 850-dollars for equipment.

Since 1989 the foundation has distributed over two million dollars in grants to non-profit organizations. The foundation is funded through the philanthropy of local residents and visitors.
