Transportation Commission Awards Grant For Lyon Co. Hwy 9 Turn Lanes; Local Airport Projects

(Ames)– The Iowa Transportation Commission today (Tuesday) awarded a Revitalize Iowa’s Sound Economy Grant for Lyon county.

The $369,313 will be used to construct about 3,180 feet of left and right-turn lanes on Highway nine near the site of the Lyon County Resort and Casino near Larchwood.

Funding for the grant comes from Lyon county’s share of the RISE fund.

Transportation commissioners also today (Tuesday) approved funding for various projects at some local airports.

The Spencer Airport will be getting $91,000 to rehabilitate some hangar roofs. Total cost of the project is estimated at $140,000.

The Cherokee County Regional Airport was awarded $34,400 to rehabilitate a terminal. That project has a total estimated cost of $43,000.

And the Milford Airport will receive nearly seven thousand dollars to pave a taxiway to a fuel apron. The project has a total estimated cost of $13,950.

A total of $1.4 million was awarded to 21 airport development projects around the state.
