(Spencer)– Minor injuries were reported Wednesday when a car collided with a semi on Highway 71 north of 430th Street in Clay county.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says 39-year-old Mark Bergstadt of Spencer was driving a 2003 Chrysler Sebring northbound when he crossed the center line and struck the rear wheel of a semi trailer being pulled by a 2003 Freightliner driven by 59-year-old Martin Hansen of Arion, Iowa, was was southbound.
Bergstadt was taken to Spencer Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries. No injuries were reported to Hansen.
Bergstadt was cited for failure to yield have the roadway.
Six thousand dollars in damage was estimated to the car driven by Bergstadt; the 2008 flat bed trailer being pulled by the semi tractor driven by Hansen was estimated at 500-dollars.
The collision took place around 3:20 p.m.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol and Royal Fire and Rescue.
