Clay County Collision Injures Five Adults, Two Children

(Spencer)—A two-vehicle collision yesterday (Sun.) afternoon at the intersection of 160th Avenue and 330th Street in Clay county injured five adults and two children.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says 42-year-old Thomas Bruns of Everly was eastbound on 330th and 32-year-old Timothy Mielke of Graettinger was northbound when the two collided in the intersection.

Bruns and two adult passengers, Terry Henderson and Donna Hansen both of Everly along with Mielke and three passengers in his vehicle, Jill Mielke and two children all from Graettinger, were taken to Spencer Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A 1996 Chevrolet Lumina driven by Bruns and a 2002 Chevrolet Suburban driven by Mielke were totaled.

Bruns was cited for failure to yield.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol, Everly Fire and Rescue, Fostoria Fire and Rescue and Spencer paramedics.

The collision took place shortly after 1:30 p.m.
