(Chandler, Az.)– A former officer on the Spirit Lake Police Department has been shot and killed while on duty as an undercover officer for the Chandler, Arizona Police Department.
Authorities say 34-year-old Carlos Ledesma was fatally shot as he and other undercover officers were attempting to make a drug by as part of an investigation.
Two other officers were shot and wounded. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Two criminal suspects were shot and killed; six others were being held for questioning.
Authorities say they’re investigating the possibility the drug dealers planned to rob the undercover officers, who had a substantial amount of money on them to purchase a large amount of marijuana.
Chandler is a suburb of Phoenix, Arizona.
Ledesma is survived by his wife and two children.
