(Des Moines)– Governor Chet Culver announced late Friday that President Barack Obama has authorized 18 counties, including Dickinson, be added to a July 29th, 2010 Presidential Disaster Declaration for Public Assistance funding.
Emmet and Sioux counties are among the 18 counties being added.
Public assistance funds are now available to state and local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations (including rural electric cooperatives and municipal utilities) for emergency work and the repair or replacement of disaster-damaged facilities.
The 18 counties are in addition to the 32 that received the designation originally. They included Buena Vista, Cherokee, Clay, O’Brien, Osceola and Palo Alto counties.
The Governor has requested that 39 counties be added to the same declaration for individual assistance. That request is still pending.
