(Spirit Lake)– A man accused of trying to kill a Spirit Lake woman late last month has pled not guilty to various charges filed against him in the case.
39-year-old James Naujock of Spirit Lake was charged with kidnapping in the first degree, attempted murder, willful injury, assault while participating in a felony, going armed with intent, domestic abuse assault, interference with official acts and obstruction of emergency communications.
The written plea of not guilty was entered this (Monday) morning in Dickinson County District Court.
The charges stem from an incident in the early morning of July 27th at 1406 Gary Avenue in Spirit Lake. Upon arriving police found a woman at that residence who they say had been “violently assaulted with a knife”.
The victim was transferred to a Sioux Falls hospital.
