Car, Semi Collision Kills Woman

(Mallard)—A collision involving a car and a semi at the intersection of Highway 4 and county road B-63 in Mallard has claimed a life.

The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office says 52-year-old Thomas McClure of Adel was driving a 2007 Kenworth truck northbound on Highway 4 and 84-year-old Isolina Brown of Havelock was driving a 2001 Ford Taurus westbound when she pulled out from a stop sign. Deputies say McClure was unable to stop and broadsided Brown’s vehicle.

Brown was pronounced dead at the scene; no injuries were reported to McClure.

Damage to the semi was estimated $1,500; Brown’s vehicle was totaled.

The collision remains under investigation by the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa State Patrol.
It took place shortly before 6:00 p.m. last (Mon.) evening.
The Mallard Fire Department, Mallard First Responders, Palo Alto County Ambulance Service, Iowa State Patrol and the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Reserves assisted on the scene.
